Was offered some tickets and the patron lounge comes with them, what is this all about?

The Patron Lounge and the VIP Lounge are available to season ticket holders that have their seats in specific areas. I believe the first two rows by the glass and the first row in the upper section (though there could be more).

Both places offer all you can eat food and beverages (beer, soda, and wine). They will have a salad with different toppings, and an entree before the game and during the first period. After the first they will have hot dogs or nachos and desserts.

I prefer the VIP Lounge since you can sit down and watch the game. I think in the Patron Lounge you can only see it on the TVs or maybe you can stand by the glass and watch.

This year they are enforcing which one you are allowed to visit. Last year the same hand stamp would let you into both.
