I just read (on a Flyers blog, no less) that the Avs have won 17 of their last 18 shootouts and are 6-0 this season in shootouts. Their biggest problem seems to be getting to the shootout.
I saw that. Strange. If roster spots weren't so valuable in the NHL, I would almost say that teams should draft shootout specialists just for the extra few points that might get them into the playoffs. But just like it's tough to carry a pure, non-skilled goon on your roster these days, it would also be difficult to carry a guy who couldn't take a regular shift and contribute during the normal flow of play.
